26 food outlets in Bolton have been given the second worst possible food hygiene rating in their most recent inspections.
The establishments, which range from takeaways to sandwich shops, supermarkets and restaurants, all received a rating of 'one' after being visited by the Food Standards Agency.
This rating means that major improvements are necessary. A business will receive a one rating if they score between 45 and 50 points. For example, if there are a number of breaches to food hygiene and a lack of training among staff.
The ratings provide a basic picture of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection.
It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.
The food hygiene rating scheme does not provide information on the quality of the food, customer service, culinary skill, presentation or comfort.
All ratings are available to view online on the Food Standard Agency’s (FSA) website.
