A hospital has issued an urgent warning asking people to only use A&E if absolutely necessary.
Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Leigh Infirmary and the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary is warning patients that its A&E is "very busy" and is urging people not to attend unless absolutely necessary.
It is outlining that the emergency department is for "serious and life-threatening emergencies only" and asking people not to turn up for coronavirus testing or the vaccine.
The warning was issued on the Trust's Twitter page yesterday evening.
They said: "Our Emergency Department (A&E) is currently very busy.
"A&E is for serious and life-threatening emergencies only.
"NHS 111 can help 24/7 if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do.
"Please do not attend our A&E for Covid-19 testing or vaccine."
