LAW-abiding drivers caught out by a faulty speed camera have been reassured all images captured will be checked before fines are posted out.

The Bolton News reported over the Christmas break that the speed camera on Bolton Road, Radcliffe, had developed a fault causing it to continuously flash — regardless of what speed a motorist was going or whether there was traffic on the road.

Worried motorists took to Twitter to report the fault and voice concerns they may be issued with a ticket.

A spokesman for Transport for Greater Manchester said: "GMP have been made aware of the fault with the safety camera on A665 Bolton Road/Monton Street, Radcliffe and the maintenance contractor for the camera is looking into repairing any issues.

"Each image captured from the camera is viewed and checked by a member of staff at GMP before any ‘Notice of Intention to Prosecute’ is issued."

According to drivers it is not the first time the camera has developed a fault, which causes it flash at everything.
