A BANNED driver has been given a community sentence and ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work. Ian Hart, aged 34, of Wellington Street, Farnworth, is disqualified from driving but was caught being the wheel of a Seat Leon in Bridgewater Avenue, Over Hulton, on December 5. He pleaded guilty to committing the offence and having no insurance. As well as the unpaid work he must participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities and is banned from applying for a licence for nine months.

A SHOPLIFTER has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by magistrates. Paul Worden, aged 49, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, admitted stealing £25 worth of chocolate from Wilko in Bolton and £38 of Persil and tablets from Poundland on December 16 last year.

A MAN who who repeatedly flouted the coronavirus regulations in the spring by allowing people into his garden has been back in court again. At Bolton Magistrates’ Court, 34-year-old Ben Gorman admitted allowing two or more people to gather at a property on September 19. He was fined £100. In September last year Gorman was also fined £500 plus costs after the court heard he had allowed pals to gather in the garden at his Moss Bank Way home on three occasions in April.

Also in court for committing a similar offence on October 1 was Owen Evans, aged 23, of Mallett Crescent, Bolton. He pleaded guilty and was fined £100.

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 28 months after he was found to have drunk more than three times the legal alcohol limit. Kassim Patel, aged 25, of Ramwell Gardens, Bolton, was caught driving a Volvo on Haydock Street, Bolton, on June 6. Patel pleaded guilty and was also sentenced to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work.

A MAN has been jailed after he was caught drink driving whilst on bail for committing the same offence. Peter Venables, aged 31, of Winchester Way, Bolton, was over the alcohol limit when he was stopped driving a Renault Megane on College Way, Bolton on December 11 last year. Venables was stopped again in the same car on Gibraltar Street, Bolton, on January 2. This time, breath tests showed he had drunk double the legal alcohol limit. He pleaded guilty to both drink driving offences and magistrates jailed him for 22 weeks. He was also banned from driving for three years.

A BANNED driver who got behind the wheel of a car has been ordered to do unpaid work by magistrates. Usman Ali, aged 28, of Luton Street, Bolton, was disqualified from holding a licence but on October 2 last year he was caught driving a Ford Focus on Wolfenden Street, Bolton. Ali pleaded guilty and admitted having no insurance. He was sentenced to do 50 hours of unpaid work and must participate in eight days of rehabilitation activities.

A THIEF who stole a woman’s pram accessories and possessions worth £120 has been electronically tagged. Melody Adamson, aged 32, of Higher Southfields, Westhoughton, stole the items on January 2 and was also found to be in possession of methadone. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for four weeks.
