FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at a terrace house in Little Lever in the early hours of the morning.

Crews from from across Bolton and Bury were called to Norris Street at around 5am to reports of a roof fire.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters put out the blaze using hose reels and other specialist equiptment. 

They are currently still in attendnace.

One person was treated at the scene for slight smoke inhalation by the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 5:00am this morning, five fire engines from Bolton Central, Bolton North, Farnworth, and Whitefield fire stations, as well as a turntable ladder from Stretford, were called to reports of a fire involving the roof of a mid-terraced property on Norris Street, Little Lever.

“Crews were quickly at the scene and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels, ladders, and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.

"One person was treated by North West Ambulance Service for slight smoke inhalation. We remain in attendance at this time.”

Roads have been closed in the area while the incident is being dealt with.

Transport for Greater Manchester said:"A6053 Church Street, Little Lever is closed between the junctions of Allen Street and Kiln Street

"This is due to a building fire.

"If you're heading this way, please seek an alternative route."
