A COUPLE from Bolton are hoping to make a roaring success of their new clothing brand.

Wesley Kelly and partner Charlotte Vincent launched Bearskinuk on New Year's Day and have already had customers satisfied with their stock.

The new brand includes a range of products such as hoodies, joggers, woolly hats, sweatshirts and t-shirts.

The pair had wanted to embark on the adventure some time ago, with the project gathering steam in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Wesley said: "Me and Charlotte thought about something we could do and we thought we would both like to create our own brand.

"We just thought we'd start off with the basics, like hoodies and kids clothes and things like that - and we just kind of did it.

"About three months before Christmas, we had a look around and found a wholesaler which we could put our own Bearskinuk brand on to and just went from there."

The duo created a modern design of a bear's head for their brand, which they put on to the clothing themselves.

They are already looking ahead to summer, where they can unveil new products, and are hoping to push on their business in the coming months.

Wesley added: "I've always wanted to do something like this and just knowing someone is wearing your brand is like 'wow'.

"It would be nice for it to get big and more and more people wearing it, but you never know."

Wesley, who works as a chef, has had the time to plan market the business, due to long stints on furlough due to the pandemic,

He would normally be working as head chef at The Railway in Bromley Cross, although pandemic restrictions have forced pubs to close.

The pandemic also meant Charlotte and Wesley had to shelve their 2021 wedding plans due to lack of funds.

However, the couple put what money they had to preparing 20 Christmas dinners, which they handed out to those spending the festive season on the streets.
