A MAN who was banned from having any contact with his mum phoned her 13 times in one day.

Blackburn magistrates heard his mother eventually called the police because she feared Liam Douglas Rushton was heading for her house.

Rushton, 32, of Blackburn Road, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order.

He was jailed for four weeks for the offence and a further 12 weeks for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed in August for assaulting his mum.

Samantha Hayward, prosecuting, said the restraining order prohibited Rushton from having any contact with his mum or entering the street where she lives.

On January 6 she received 13 calls from him and in one he said he was coming to her home.

Peter King, defending, said just before Christmas his client lost his accommodation which was in Oswaldtwistle and near to his mum.

"On the day he made these phone calls he had nowhere to get his head down and the only person he could turn to was his mum," said Mr King.

"She answered some of the calls but eventually called the police because he was going to be turning up at her address.

"He was arrested on Blackburn Road which is close to where she lives but not in breach of the order."

Mr King said his client had spent a week in custody which had been an eye-opener for him.

"It's clear his mother doesn't want anything to do with him and he promises to honour that in future," said Mr King.
