A warning has been issued after reports of people pretending to be nurses turning up to vulnerable people's homes and offering a vaccine in return for money.

The vaccine is being offered for free to all residents through the NHS and people's individual GP's

Vaccination sites are up and running covering the whole borough.

The warning has been issued by Cllr Andy Morgan, Bolton Council's lead for adult social care, reminding residents that the vaccine is free to everyone.

He has described how there have been reports of people pretending to be nurses that have "turned up to vulnerable people's houses to vaccinate them then asked for money".

Residents are offered a vaccine through receiving a letter from their local GP with an invitation to attend their local site or the national vaccination centres at the Etihad campus in east Manchester or Blackburn.

Cllr Andy Morgan said: "The vaccination is free to everyone.

"Nobody from the NHS will turn up to your home without warning and you will not be asked for your bank details or asked for money."
