A MAN who was refused admission to his ex-partner's home when he turned up unexpectedly kicked the door in.

Blackburn magistrates heard the householder went to answer a knock on the door at about 9pm but declined to open the door when she realised it was Wasar Ahmed.

Ahmed, 30, of Vincit Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a door. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Jade Coleman, prosecuting, said when the victim didn't open the door Ahmed kicked it a number of times, forcing the door to open, damaging the locking mechanism and knocking out a pane of glass.

"The victim was six weeks pregnant and her seven-year-old son was present," said Miss Coleman.

Gareth Price, defending, said the incident had happened on impulse.

"He attended, was denied access and kicked the door," said Mr Price. "There is nothing I have seen that indicates serious distress or serious economic loss to the aggrieved."
