A DRIVER whose car became stuck on the moors near Entwistle Reservoir was rescued on Saturday night.

The motorist had been driving on a "very icy lane" before the car tyres lost its grip of the road due to the conditions, leading to him calling for help.

Recovery charity Community 4x4 Response were sent to the scene and attached his car to a 4x4 vehicle, with it then being towed half a mile to safety.

A Community 4x4 Response spokesman said: "We were called out this evening (Saturday) to recover a stranded motorist up on the moors near Entwistle Reservoir.

"His vehicle was on a very icy lane and he could not get any traction at all.

"We hitched him up to one of our 4x4 vehicles, gave him instruction on being towed and then proceeded to take him back to the clear tarmac about half a mile along the road.

"He was very grateful and made his way home within a few minutes of our arrival."
