A round-up of cases dealt with by magistrates

A WOMAN caught driving a car without a licence or insurance has been fined by magistrates. Zara Sailar, aged 23, of Russell Street, Bolton, drove a Toyota Auris on Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, on May 9. She was banned from applying for a driving licence for 12 months and fined £660.

A MAN has been electronically tagged after he admitted contacting a woman in breach of a restraining order. John Wilson, aged 51, of Milnthorpe Road, Breightmet, was sentenced him to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and given a 7pm to 7am curfew for 12 weeks.

A MAN convicted of assaulting a woman, using controlling behaviour and damaging fence trellis has been ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. Danny Bowker, aged 37, of Avenue Street, Bolton, was convicted following a trial and he was ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

TWO men have pleaded guilty after damage was caused to a door at The Range store on Crompton Way, Bolton, on January 23. Anthony Roby, aged 31, of no fixed address was sent back to jail for 14 days and Carl Quigley, aged 43, of Alfred Street, Platt Bridge, was fined £80.

A WOMAN caught stealing 18 bottles of Jack Daniel’s whiskey from Morrisons in Breightmet has been given a six-week curfew and is banned from entering the store for a year. Lauren Banks, aged 28, from Breightmet, admitted stealing the alcohol.

A MAN caught drug driving had only got his licence back days earlier and begged officers not to report him. Stevie Lane Anderson admitted having taken ketamine and cannabis before driving a Mini Cooper on Bury Road, Bolton on July 12 last year. Anderson, of Bury New Road, Radcliffe, was fined £315 and was banned from driving for three years.

COUSINS caught with 17 snap bags of cannabis in a car have been sentenced for possessing the drug. Police stopped a BMW on Topp Way, being driven by 23-year-old Sufyan Bhaiyat, of Ivy Road, Bolton, at 2.15am on August 3, 2019. His cousin, Huzaifah Patel, aged 24, of Bertrand Road, Bolton was a passenger. Patel was sentenced to a conditional discharge for six months and Bhaiyat for 12 months. Each must also pay £106 in costs and charges.

A WOMAN involved in a crash was found to have no licence or insurance Michelle Chasle was driving a Ford Focus on Weston Street, Bolton, on January 7 last year when it crashed with another vehicle. Chasle, aged 44, of St Helens Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance and also admitted possessing heroin. She was fined £140 and banned from applying for a driving licence for 12 months.

A THIEF who stole a man’s £3,000 Vauxhall Corsa after damaging his front door has been jailed for 16 weeks. Marvin Gordon, aged 35, of Bridge Street, Bolton, had denied committing the offences in July 2019 but was convicted following a trial.

A MAN caught with a sheath knife in a Bolton back street has been sentenced to six months in prison suspended for 18 months. Liam Bent, aged 21 of Plantation Avenue, Walkden, was found carrying the the knife in Back Uttley Street, Halliwell, on January 10 last year.
