There were long delays and congestion on the M60 this morning due to a 'multi-vehicle' accident.

Traffic was being held on the M60 clockwise from junction 17, near Prestwich and Whitefield to junction 18, at Simister island on to the M62, due to a 'multi-vehicle' accident.

Congestion went all the way back to junction 15 at the Swinton interchange.

Traffic was released around 10:15am with slow traffic in place for some time.

All lanes have now reoped with traffic returned to normal.
