CONSPIRACY theories surrounding the Covid-19 vaccine will be busted by Bolton's top health experts at a special virtual conference.

More than 700 members of the public have signed up to tune in to the webinar hosted by the University of Bolton to once and for all debunk myths about the vaccination and to present the facts in an easy understandable way.

The webinar ­— ' Know the truth! Understand the advice, have the vaccine, protect yourself and your loved ones’ ­—is aimed at everybody, especially those who have reservations about having the jab, including those from the BAME community.

Dr Abhishek Kumar, a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist will chair the panel, which will include Dr Helen Wall, senior responsible officer for Covid-19 vaccine roll out in Bolton, Dr Wirin Bhatiani, Chairman of Bolton’s Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Helen Lowey, Bolton’s Director of Public Health, and Professor John Lumley, Founding Dean for the School of Medicine at the University of Bolton.

The panel will be presenting the facts about the various vaccines being rolled out across the UK and will look at them from a variety of perspectives, giving tangible evidence so that a well-informed judgement can be made.

Dr Kumar said: “I would urge as many people as possible with questions or concerns about the vaccine to join the webinar.

“We want to provide answers in a straightforward and honest way. The more people who understand how the vaccine works and can be reassured about its safety and how it can prevent loss of life or serious illness, the better.

“The webinar is just one part of the plan to empower people connected to the diverse communities in our surrounding areas, taking the message that the vaccine is safe and has undergone rigorous trials.

“We hope that respected local leaders will use the opportunity to learn and pass on this learning to the people in their communities.”

The University of Bolton’s Vice Chancellor, Professor George Holmes, said: “We are delighted to host this fascinating and extremely important webinar.

The event will take place oin Wednesday February 17, starting at 3pm and last for just over an hour.
