A DENTIST manager has declared she is "sick" of incidents of flytipping behind her practice.

Lisa Hodgkinson, the practice manager at 272 Dental Care in St Helens Road says that dumps of rubbish, furniture and other items in the street behind the practice, Back St Helens Road, has been a blight on the workers and other residents for over two years now.

Lisa regularly has to push her way through rubbish to open their back door, also their fire exit, to get onto the street to get rid of their own waste and she says something more needs to be done to tackle the issue.

She says she often has conversations with residents who live on the road after waste and items are dumped their over night, which is regularly cleared by the council.

The latest incidents have left Lisa and others "fed up" saying that she is "sick of it".

She said: "It's still just carrying on, it's disgusting really.

"Each time we report it to the council and they are good at coming and cleaning it up but we are so fed up with it happening now.

"It just makes such a mess and is always full of rubbish.

"It causes us enough trouble by blocking our door or attracting rats which is bad where you work but I can't imagine how bad it is for the people that live here.

"It needs to be dealt with properly. Flytipping like this is just wrong and it completely ruins the town."

The Bolton News this year launched a campaign to highlight incidents of flytipping, and to champion local litter picking groups, to keep Bolton tidy.

Hulton ward councillor Diane Parkinson, said she was unaware of the spot and will be looking in to the issue as soon as she can.

She also said flytipping is a major problem in the area but that there are many great litter picking volunteers that help keep the area as tidy as they can.

She said: "Flytipping throughout the ward is a constant fight and something we are trying to address.

"This is being done both by the council and other organisations such as volunteer litter pickers but it is an issue that keeps arising.

"The litter picking groups in our area do such a great job and are continuing to do great work in the pandemic when they are limited.

"These groups bring out community together in so many great ways.

"But it is so hard to stop the problem before its happened as it gets done mostly in hidden areas and at night.

"I will see what I can do to help with this road in particular."
