A BOLTON theatre company is hosting nights of entertainment and quizzes to keep spirits up amid the pandemic.

Stagedoor Theatre Productions set up an online social club, the Green Room, to keep in touch with people as the coronavirus restrictions remain in place.

It offers support to residents experiencing isolation and loneliness.

And on Monday, February 8, The Green Room held its latest evening of fun, which Bolton mayor, Cllr Linda Thomas, took part in.

Fundraising by the group is all donated to charitable causes

A Green Room spokeswoman said: "It was an absolute pleasure to have the mayor spend the evening with us.

"The Green Room was set up by Chris Anderton, who runs Stagedoor Theatre Productions.

"Chris wanted a way of bringing people together during lockdown who had a common interest in theatre.

"The online social club has gained many participants who come together online to enjoy each other’s company.

"The Green Room's online meetings give people who may be lonely or feeling a bit low due to the current situation in the theatre world, a chance to speak to other people, enjoy quizzes, take part in yoga or simply enjoy a bit of company for the evening."

The Green Room's next meeting will be announced on its Facebook page, @stagedoorgreenroom.
