THE 17-YEAR-OLD who was stabbed in Westhoughton on Friday night remains in hospital in a 'serious but stable condition'.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, police have said.

He was taken to hopsital on Friday night after emergency services were called to Church Street, following reports of a disturbance and a large group of people fighting.

According to police, two 17-year-old boys were approached by a group of around six people, who assualted the two victims.

One of them managed to escape with minor injuries, but the second boy was attacked and stabbed.

He was able to flee the scene but was chased and attacked again on Market Street.

Detective Inspector Andrew Fallows of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “This was an abhorrent and violent assault on two teenagers and our thoughts are very much with the boy who remains in hospital for treatment."
