Coronavirus cases and infection rates have been dropping across Bolton recently.

With the easing of lockdown set to be announced by the government today, the number of Covid-19 cases and subsequent hospitalisations are more important than ever.

Most individual areas of Bolton have seen their number of cases decrease, however, many are still recording infection rates far above the national average.

Rumworth North recorded the highest amount of coronavirus cases in the seven days to February 16.

It recorded 48 new cases of Covid-19 in this time, six more than the previous seven days, equalling an infection rate the same as 552.5 cases per 100,000 people.

The average infection rate for England was 128.5 per 100,000 people.

Over Hulton and Westhoughton Daisy Hill recorded the least amount of cases in this same time.

Over Hulton recorded five cases in the seven days to February 16 with Westhoughton Daisy Hill recording seven, giving each area a lower infection rate of 81 and 93 respectively.

Elsewhere in Bolton, Horwich North and Horwich South with Middlebrook has seen its cases decrease.

In the seven days to February 16 Horwich North recorded a Covid-19 infection rate of 208.2 cases per 100,000 with Horwich South with Middlebrook on 227.9.

Ainsworth and Bradley Fold had one of the lowest rates in the borough with 102.5 per 100,000, followed by Little Lever on 120.8, Lostock and Ladybridge on 122.4, Westhoughton East on 123.8, Bromley Cross and Bradshaw on 124.1, and Smithills on 143.8.

However, some areas of Bolton are still recording an infection rate above 300 per 100,000.

This includes Farnworth North on 322.6, Daubhill and Farnhill Gate on 338.2, Tonge on 343.9, and Lever Edge on 351.8.
