The number of coronavirus cases in Bolton has continued to drop after the road map out of lockdown was announced.

Bolton is no longer in the top 10 for coronavirus infection rate in the country with this fall, however, the town still has the highest amount of cases in Greater Manchester.

Yesterday, Boris Johnson announced the road map out of lockdown restrictions which included schools reopening on March 8 with pubs, hairdressers, and more opening from as soon as April 12.

This has coincided with Bolton's coronavirus infection rate continuing to fall, after many weeks of it failing to drop.

In the seven days to February 18, Bolton recorded 658 new positive cases of coronavirus, equalling an infection rate of 228.8 cases per 100,000 people.

This is a significant drop from the previous seven days (to February 11) where Bolton recorded an infection rate of 269.5 positive Covid-19 cases per every 100,000 people.

Elsewhere in Greater Manchester Bury saw its infection rate rise from 206.3 to 219.9 cases per 100,000 people according to the latest figures.

Every other borough except Tameside saw its infection rate decrease, with Trafford recording the lowest infection rate of 131.4 cases per 100,000 people.
