A car was set alight in the early hours of this morning in a possible arson attack, the fire service said.

Fire fighters from Bolton Central Fire Station attended a vehicle on fire in Heathfield Drive, Bolton, around 12:45 this morning.

The car was at the side of a property and the fire service were in attendance for around 40 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Bolton Central crew manager Darren Collier said the police had been made aware of the incident.

He said: "We were called to a car on fire on the side of a property in Heathfield Drive.

"It was just the one car and police have been made aware of the incident as it may have been an act of arson."
