Bolton no longer has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester as the town's number of cases continued to drop.

The latest figures showed that Bolton recorded fewer cases in the last seven days than the week before, along with most of Greater Manchester.

Elsewhere, Bury saw its infection rate shoot up as it saw a rise in the number of positive cases in the town this week.

In the seven days to February 19, Bolton recorded 641 new positive cases of coronavirus.

This equals an infection rate of 222.9 positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people in the borough.

For comparison, in the previous seven days (to February 12), Bolton recorded 747 cases of coronavirus at a rate of 259.8 per 100,000 people.

Bury moved in to the top 10 for coronavirus cases in England according to the latest figures.

In the seven days to February 19 Bury recorded 444 new positive cases of coronavirus at an infection rate of 232.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the previous seven days (February 12) Bury reported 393 cases at 205.8 per 100,000.

Trafford is still recording the lowest rate in the region at 123.4 per 100,000, however, this is still above the national average.
