SHOTS were fired at a home in Manchester where a party was taking place, police have said.

Just after 1am today, officers received a report of a party at an address on Fairway Avenue.

Around 10 minutes later, a further call to a report of shots being fired at the address was received.

Officers arrived and found that no-one was injured.

Bullet casings were discovered by detectives and recovered for forensic analysis.

A scene is currently in place as detectives carry out enquiries.

Detective Inspector Christopher Maddocks, from Greater Manchester Police's City of Manchester division, said: "This is understandably an incident that has left a community worried and we're currently working to understand what happened and who was responsible.

"A scene is currently in place and I'd like to thank residents nearby for cooperating whilst we carry out with enquiries.

"At this time, we believe the incident to have been isolated and would ask anyone with information to come forward."
