TWO more people have died at the Royal Bolton Hospital in the last day after contracting coronavirus.

NHS England figures show that 614 people have died at the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

The latest statistics show that nine coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded by Bolton's NHS trust this week so far, included one person who died yesterday.

Across the UK, a further 290 people died after testing positive for the virus in the last 28 days.

Overall, 122,705 people have died in Britain after having Covid-19, as of up to 4pm today.

An extra 60 people have tested positive for the virus in Bolton, raising the total number since the beginning of the health crisis to 24,236.

There were 615 new cases confirmed in the borough in the seven days up to Monday and the rate per 100,000 people who had a positive coronavirus test in Bolton up to that day was 213.9, nearly double the UK average of 109.6.
