Coronavirus cases have fallen once again in Bolton, in line with the rest of Greater Manchester.

Throughout early February the number of coronavirus cases in Bolton stayed relatively high and didn't come down compared to the rest of the region.

However, in recent weeks this has changed and the number of cases has dropped significantly with the borough no longer having the highest infection rate in Greater Manchester.

In the seven days to February 24, Bolton recorded 593 new positive cases of Covid-19.

This means that Bolton has an infection rate of 206.2 positive cases of coronavirus per 100,000 people in the population.

This is much lower than 280 cases per 100,000 people that the borough was recording for much of late-January and early-February while the rest of Greater Manchester's rates dropped.

This means Bolton has the second highest infection rate in Greater Manchester.

Bury is the borough with the highest coronavirus infection rate with 206.3 cases per 100,000 of the population.

Elsewhere Salford saw a big drop in it's infection rate to 160.7 per 100,000.

Trafford is still recording by far the lowest amount of cases in the region.

In the seven days to February 24 Trafford recorded 297 cases of Covid-19, equalling an infection rate of 125.1 cases per 100,000 people.

The national average of the infection rate is around 107.7 cases per 100,000.
