The family of a missing teenager from Bolton have made a plea to help find her as they are concerned for her safety.

Kayleigh Cook-Dumbarton, aged 17, was last seen on East Way, Hall I'th Wood, at around 1am on Sunday.

Her father, Richard Dumbarton, has made a plea to help find Kayleigh, as she suffers from epilepsy and needs to take medication daily to control her seizures.

Richard has been searching around Bolton himself, with Kayleigh's mother Jennie Rennoldson, in the early hours to try and find her and have been getting no response from her phone.

He says that himself, her mum, step-dad Ian and sister Megan are all trying to keep positive in their search for Kayleigh, but are becoming very worried due to her not having her medication with her.

Mr Dumbarton said: "Neither us, police, or any of her friends have heard anything from her since she went missing.

"We are getting quite alarmed and worried now as she doesn't have her medication, which she needs daily.

"If she doesn't take that medication daily her seizures may become more frequent which is quite dangerous.

"Kayleigh leaving the house for this long is very out of character for her. She loves her phone and is always messaging friends but when we try and ring her now it just goes straight to voicemail, she never avoids her phone."

Richard said even when in hospital after seizures she would straight away ask where her phone is to message friends.

He also praised the work that police are doing to help find Kayleigh, saying they are doing "everything they can".

Richard added: "The community has really rallied together to help find her which is great, we just want to keep spreading the word to help get Kayleigh found.

"I have been driving round Bolton constantly looking for her, we are trying our best to keep positive now.

"It now gets to the point of thinking is she even in Bolton any more, so we're trying to get the message spread as far as possible.

"We don't mind if she has travelled away, or is staying away at a friend's house, but we just want to know that she is safe.

"If she's out there somewhere, at another house, just let us know, it's getting scary for us now."

Kayleigh is described as a white female, 5ft 4ins, very slim, with purple hair just above her waist.

She was last seen wearing either a red or orange jumper with a Nasa emblem, Adidas black leggings with white stripes and white/orange/grey trainers.

Anyone with information about Kayleigh's whereabouts should contact police on 0161 856 5748 quoting incident number 235 of February 28.
