DRIVERS who ignored the red X motorway sign as police were dealing with a incident can expect a letter through the post.
Motorway patrols clocked 27 motorists blatantly drive under the sign which indicates a lane closure on the M62 today.
A spokesman for North West Motorway Police said: " Whilst patrols were dealing a live breakdown on the M62 earlier, 27 drivers were seen to drive under the red X into the closed lane.
"All of these drivers will be receiving Notices of Intended Prosecution through the post."
Motorway police have previously warned motorists about ignoring red X signs.
Drivers who ignore lane closures on motorways marked with a red X will face a £100 fine and three penalty points.
Motorists who see a red X above a lane should move into another lane as soon as they can.
