Firefighters tackled a van set alight in a driveway in a possible deliberate attack this morning.

Around 2:30am firefighters from Bolton North fire station were called to Woodcot Bank, a private road, to a van on fire in a driveway.

The front of the van was alight and completely destroyed by the fire, with the fire service there for an hour tackling the blaze.

Most of the tools in the back of the van were saved as firefighters stopped the spread, with no property or environment around the van damaged either.

Bolton North watch manager, Glyn McGann, said: "The van was set alight in a driveway on a private road.

"The front of the van has been completely destroyed but we managed to stop it spreading elsewhere.

"Police are now looking into the matter as a possibly deliberate act with the property affected having CCTV of the incident.

"We managed to save the tools in the back of the transit van which the owner wouldn't have been able to get to due to the extent of the fire which they were very thankful about."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman, said: "Police were called to Woodcott Bank, Bolton, shortly before 2.40am on Friday 5 March to a report of a van on fire.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
