FOOTBALL loving couple Ian Hope and Penny Lowe celebrated their own match of the day in what was. for them, the best way possible back in 1992.

For as soon as they tied the knot at Bolton Register Office they headed straight to Burnden Park to watch Bolton Wanderers draw 1-1 with Bournemouth.

It was Champagne all the way for the happy couple who travelled to the match in a limousine and then watched the game in the ground’s executive suite where they were VIPs for the day.

Ian, 26, who ran the Glendale Guest House in Bradford Street with Penny, said: “I know it’s my wedding but I’ve got a season ticket and I never miss a match.”

Penny, 22, had no intention of being left on the bench while he watched the match.

“I don’t go to see them as much as Ian but I was looking forward to it,” she said.

Certainly both of them decided that it was the perfect way to kick-off married life!
