The coronavirus infection rate has fallen significantly across Bolton, with all areas now recording an infection rate below 300 per 100,000 people.

Many boroughs are also recording fewer cases than the national average, with lockdown measures set to be eased slightly tomorrow and many children returning to school.

Little Hulton North recorded the most amount of cases in the borough in the seven days leading to March 1 with 22 cases in total ­— giving the area an infection rate of 262.7 cases if shown over 100,000 people.

Tonge recorded the next highest infection rate, despite recording fewer cases according to the latest figures.

Tonge recorded 24 new positive Covid-19 cases to March 1, equalling a rate of 257.9 cases if spread over 100,00 people.

Burnden with Great Lever (21), Rumworth South (19) and Rumworth North (21) all saw the number of cases in their areas drop significantly, however they are still recording some of the highest infection rates in the borough.

Lever Edge is the only other part of Bolton to still be recording an infection rate of above 200 cases per 100,000 people.

Heaton with Deane, Daubhill with Fernhill Gate, Horwich East, and Ainsworth with Bradley Fold, all recorded the lowest amount of cases in the borough.

Daubhill with Fernhill gate, Horwich East, and Ainsworth with Bradley Fold only recorded three cases each in the seven days to March 1, giving them an infection rate of 40.6, 49.1, and 51.2 per 100,000 people respectively.

Heaton with Deane only recorded one more case than these areas (four), equalling an infection rate of 44.9 per 100,000.

Many other areas in the borough recorded less than 10 cases in the days to February 1.

This includes Over Hulton, Farnworth South, Breightmet North, Harwood, Bromley Cross with Bradshaw, Hall I' th' Wood, Halliwell with Brownlow Fold, Smithills, Doffcocker with Moss Bank, Westhoughton West, and Westhoughton East.

Infection rates vary between these different areas above and below the national average due to population sizes.

At the time of writing the national average for infection rates in English local authorities was around 70 positive cases per 100,000 people.

Bolton's overall infection rate was just over 132 cases per 100,000 people.
