POLICE officers say they were spat at and experienced racial abuse while attending a disturbance on Halliwell Road.
Officers say they were called to an address and while making an arrest to prevent a breach of the peace, they were spat at and an officer was the victim of racial abuse.
Carla Couperthwaite, aged 24, of Halliwell Road has been charged with racially aggravated public order and assaulting an emergency worker.
Officers say she has been remanded in police custody to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
