A WOMAN who spat at police officers who were dealing with a disturbance in Halliwell Road, Bolton, on Saturday has been electronically tagged.

At Wigan Magistrates’ Court, Carla Couperthwaite, aged 24, of Halliwell Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting one police officer and using racially aggravated threatening behaviour towards another.

Police say she was arrested for the offences as officers were trying to prevent a breach of the peace.

Couperthwaite was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 12 weeks and must participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

The court has also ordered her to have treatment for alcohol addiction and she must pay £85 towards prosecution costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

In 2019 Couperthwaite was jailed for 16 months after she got drunk and went on a rampage with a knife.
