A YOUNG chef is cooking up a storm on the internet after sharing his recipes online for everyone to enjoy.

Ewan McCairn, 10, began cooking throughout lockdown after finding himself with more free time due to the cancellation of in-person teaching.

The year five Bolton School pupil has now launched his own website, Elmeed, where he shares his recipes for soups, cakes, muffins, cookies, kebabs and pastries.

Speaking to The Bolton News on Friday after school, Ewan said: “I used to bake around once a month, but I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to keep doing it as much as possible. Now, I am baking around twice a week.

“In February, I made two birthday cakes – one for my mum and one for my dad.

“My dad’s one was probably the best one because it was a four-tier chocolate and vanilla marble cake.

“My favourite thing to make is probably burgers.”

Over the weekend, Ewan had made plans to make pepperoni pizza twists and the the recipe will be up on his website soon.

He has uploaded new recipes each month since October 2020, with his most recent treats including blueberry muffins and no bake millionaire shortbread.

Ewan and his family moved to Heaton around a year ago to start a new life in Bolton.

According to his website, Ewan has racked up nearly 2,000 views on his online recipes, which are proving popular among family and friends.

Ewan has high hopes of hitting TV screens later this year, as he has applied for Junior Bake Off, the Channel 4 cooking show hosted by comedian Harry Hill.

Dad Mark, a chemist owner, said: “Ewan loves cooking breakfast for himself and his family, and he especially enjoys baking birthday cakes.

“I run a small business and Ewan has more followers than I do on his website.

“On his website, you don’t need to be a great chef to make the recipes.

“There are lots of simple and easy recipes to follow for any type of occasion.”
