Bolton property owners are currently waiting 15.11 weeks to sell their houses, according to new statistics.

House-buying firm Property Solvers has crunched the data from more than 734 property sales in Bolton postcodes between March 2020 and March 2021.

The company’s speed of sale tool found that, on average, Bolton sales took 15.11 weeks (approximately 106 days) to progress from being listed on Rightmove to being marked as officially sold at the HM Land Registry.

In comparison, properties in the M6 postcode region of Salford took an average of 123 days to sell, while house sales in Manchester’s Didsbury neighbourhood (M20) took an average of 132 days.

In Bolton, properties in the BL6 postcode region – which covers Lostock, Blackrod and Horwich – sold the fastest, getting snapped up by buyers in just 64 days on average.

Sellers with BL2 postcodes, however, had to be more patient.

This area, which covers Harwood and Breightmet, saw properties taking an average of 118 days to sell.

Property Solvers co-founder, Ruban Selvanayagam, explained that the Covis-19 pandemic had slowed transactions down in some cases. He said: “Although buyer demand hasn’t waned over the course of the pandemic, the length of time for transactions to complete has certainly lengthened.”

He added: “However, with positive news around the vaccine roll-out, as more people gradually return to offices and agencies, we’re cautiously optimistic about things picking up over the course of the year.”
