MAGISTRATES have fined several people after they failed to name the drivers of vehicles when asked by police.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court William Betherton, aged 48, of Foxendale Walk, Bolton admitted not naming the driver of a Citroen Relay van on August 18 last year. He was fined £120 by magistrates plus £119 in costs and charges.

In separate cases Alexander Buckley, aged 32, of Kingsley Street, Bolton, failed to name a VW Golf driver on July 21 and Omer Mohammed, aged 22, of Thornbank, Bolton did not identify a Vauxhall Corsa driver on August 24 last year. Each was convicted and fined £660 plus £85 towards prosecution costs and a £66 victim surcharge.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Daniel Coundley, aged 32, of Bolton Street, Radcliffe, was convicted of not naming a VW Polo driver on July 29 last year who was suspected of committing an offence.

Karl Day, aged 31, of Marsden Road, Bolton, failed to name a Vauxhall Meriva driver on August 13, and Frantisek Oracko, aged 29, of Wynne Street, Bolton, did not identify a Renault Megane driver on August 26. Each was fined £660 plus £151 in costs and charges.

Harry Dawber, aged 20, of Alexandra Road, Lostock, admitted not naming the driver of a Vauxhall Astra on August 25 last year and Jason Jones, aged 34, of Jolly Brows, Bolton, did not identify a Vauxhall Astra driver on August 3. Each was fined £120 plus £119 in costs and charges.
