A ROUND-UP of cases dealt with by magistrates recently.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £160 after he used threatening behaviour. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Daniel Loynd, aged 31, of Thynne Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence, which the court decided was racially aggravated, in Bury on September 19 last year.

A MAN has been sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 12 months after he admitted stealing a television from a sheltered housing complex on March 5. Vincent Place, aged 39, of Spinningfields, Halliwell, was ordered to pay £200 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from going back to Spinningfields except with a police officer to collect personal belongings.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to undertake 150 hours of unpaid work after he was convicted of taking a Citroen C3 without consent. Gary Kay, aged 36, of Eldercot Grove, Bolton, had denied committing the offence in Atherton in June 2019. As well as the unpaid work, Kay was ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities, undertake a drug treatment programme and pay £195 in costs and charges.

A DRUG driver has been fined £120 and banned from holding a licence. Wigan magistrates heard how Leon Crank, aged 28, of Bolton Road, Kearsley, had used cannabis when he drove a Ford Mondeo on Plodder Lane, Farnworth on August 26 last year. He admitted committing the offence and having no insurance. As well as the fine and 12-month driving ban, he was ordered to pay £119 in costs and charges.

A MAN caught driving a Ford Transit van without insurance has been banned from holding a licence for six months. The case against Tyrone Heeley, aged 26, of Greenside Avenue, Kearsley, was proved at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, which heard he drove the vehicle on Pacific Way, Trafford, on June 26 last year. He was also fined £770 plus £162 in costs and charges.

A MAN has been jailed for 12 weeks by Bolton magistrates after he drove dangerously. Sajid Jangharia, aged 36, of Willows Lane, Bolton, had denied committing the offence whilst driving a BMW X1 on Deane Road, Bolton, on April, but changed his plea to guilty. The court heard that Jangharia tried to make off and there was a short chase. In addition to the prison sentence, he was banned from driving for 18 months.
