CHILDREN at Bolton School Nursery enjoyed a ‘Healthy Body, Happy Me’ week last week in a bid to promote the outdoors as a boost for physical and mental health.

The theme of ‘nurture with nature’ saw boys and girls study plants and insects whilst undertaking a wide range of activities.

Three and four year olds in the Nursery’s Butterfly Class exercised outdoors, 'investigated leaves' and explored their creative sides.

Nursery Practitioner Rhiannon Auger said: ‘During the course of the week our Butterfly children have been carrying out activities such as wrapping wool around small world animals and using scissors to help free them from the tangling of wool. It has been good to practice and promote motor skills.

‘The children have really enjoyed discussing themes such as feelings, fitness and being at one with nature and they have definitely enjoyed all of the fun-filled activities that have been carried out."
