MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to carry out unpaid work after he admitted harassing a woman by sending her numerous unwanted gifts, posting offensive notes to her and turning up at her home uninvited over a three-day period in January.

Manchester magistrates heard how, on February 13, Anthony Simpson, aged 34, of Iris Avenue, Farnworth, also destroyed a man’s £3,000 Ford Fiesta, damaged the woman’s door and was caught carrying cocaine and cannabis.

Simpson pleaded guilty to harassment, criminal damage and possessing drugs.

As well as 150 hours of unpaid work, Simpson was ordered to participate in 33 days of a building better relationships programme, must pay a total of £1,300 in compensation plus £180 in costs and charges.

A restraining order was made banning him from contacting the woman or going to Freshfield Grove, Farnworth.
