For some reason this great photo from the archive reminded us of the Bernard Cribbens' song Hole in the Ground.
The picture shows the cobbles being dug up on Hotel Street, Bolton, in October 1961. The Commercial Hotel is on the left and the former Bolton Evening News building on Mealhouse Lane can be seen in the background.
