THERE have been no further coronavirus-related deaths announced at the Royal Bolton Hospital, figures have revealed.

NHS England data shows that 646 people have died at the hospital since the start of the pandemic after testing positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days.

The last death at the hospital linked to the virus happened on Easter Sunday.

In the UK, 53 further deaths were announced. A total of 126,980 people have died in Britain after testing positive for Covid-19.

An extra 18 people in the borough have tested positive for the virus in the last day, raising the number of those who have been confirmed to have had Covid-19 in Bolton to 25,790.

Across the UK, 3,030 were told they had the virus in the last 24 hours, according to government statistics published at 4pm today.

There were 220 new cases found in Bolton in the week up to April 3, meaning the rate per 100,000 people in the borough of people who had the virus then was 76.5.

The rate has been dropping on a weekly basis but it is more than double the UK average of 37.3.
