THE MAYOR of Bolton laid a wreath in memory of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh on Saturday morning following his death at the age of 99 on April 9.
Tributes have been paid from leaders across the borough as flags are flown at half mast across the country.
Cllr Linda Thomas laid a wreath at the flagpole in the grounds of the parish church in a touching gesture.
On Friday evening Bolton Town Hall was lit up in purple in remembrance of His Royal Highness.
The Mayor released a statement on April 9 after Prince Philip's death was announced.
She said: "I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and I know that my sadness will be shared across Bolton.
"The Duke of Edinburgh was our longest-reigning consort and gave a lifetime of service to the people of the country.
"Flags will be flown at half-mast and books of condolence opened for the Bolton community to visit and share their feelings at this sad time.
"There will be opportunities in the near future for the people of our town to come together and offer comfort to one another. For now, my thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and all the Royal Family."
