A YELLOW warning of snow and ice for Bolton and across Greater Manchester has been issued by the Met Office overnight.

The warning was put in place from 12.36am until 8am this morning.

Forecasters have warned that some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by roads.

There is also a risk of icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The Met Office said: "Although still mostly rain or sleet at lower levels, snow that has been falling during Saturday evening is now accumulating on some roads in the region, particularly over hills, where 2-4 cm is possible temporarily.

"Snow will ease through the early hours with icy stretches then forming on untreated surfaces."

Transport for Greater Manchester have reminded drivers and commuters of the warning.
