A WOMAN will be taking part in the Bolton Hospice virtual sponsored walk in June in memory of her dad.

Devon Williams from Lostock is going to make every step count to complete the My Memories Walk - a 10,000 step virtual sponsored challenge on June 19.

She said: “I am taking part in Bolton Hospices Memory Walk this year in memory of my best friend, my Dad, David Williams. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer with six months to live and my world fell apart. My dad would say ‘Devon, would you rather have six months of crying or six months of happiness’ and this is the way my dad dealt with it as he hated seeing me suffer even though he was the real one suffering.

“My dad spent his final week in Bolton Hospice and I will never forget the last 24 hours I got to spend with him. The nurses went above and beyond from making sure he was comfortable to providing the most incredible support to his family at his side. The nurses were so caring and I couldn’t have got through the last 24 hours with my dad without them there. They truly are real life angels. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and I will never forget what they did for both my Dad and I in his final hours. I believe this experience would’ve been so much more difficult without the nurses at Bolton Hospice. “
