A NEW family-owned coffee, sandwich and dessert bar is opening in Bolton town centre next week - just in time for the upcoming summer season.

Interchange, now in its final stages of construction, will sell teas and coffees, fresh sandwiches and desserts including signature waffles and ice-creams, in what owners believe is a ‘gap in the market’ in Bolton.

Hamza Bahloul, 21, will be running the business alongside his dad, mum and brother.

Speaking to The Bolton News, he said: “We want to put the customers in control.

“So although we will have our normal menu items, customers will also be able to create their own waffles and ice-creams, by choosing their own toppings and sauces.

“There aren’t many dessert places in Bolton so we’re hoping that this will be a big success.”

It is also hoped that trade will pick up later this year as commuters return to work, due to the ideal location of being right outside the bus and train stations in Bolton town centre.

Hamza previously worked at McDonald’s in Fallowfield and always saw himself as an ‘up-and-comer’.

He always pursued managerial positions but kept getting knocked back - so he is now looking forward to this new challenge.

The family lives in Cheetham Hill but are excited about securing the premises in Bolton on Newport Street.

They are set to open at the beginning of next week, probably on Monday or Tuesday, according to Hamza.

Opening hours will be from around 6am to 6pm to start off with, while the family determines the best times for trading.

The eaterie will also consider delivery services following the first few weeks of business.

And when restrictions allow, there is ample room for indoor seating which Hamza and the team are planning on making full use of when the time comes.
