A MEMORIAL service to honour the life of Prince Philip will be held in Bolton tomorrow.

Residents of the town will be able to pay their respects following the death of His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The service will be held at Bolton Parish Church at 6pm and the public will be allowed to attend.

The church service will be led by the Vicar of Bolton Rev Canon Dr Chris Bracegirdle and tickets are on a first come first served basis at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/memorial-service-for-the-hrh-duke-of-edinburgh-tickets-150921888431

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, numbers will be limited but the service will also be live streamed using Microsoft Teams for those who are unable to attend.

Anyone using a laptop or PC will be able to watch using their internet browser.

Anyone watching on a smartphone or tablet can watch by downloading the Microsoft Teams App in advance.

The national is currently in official mourning for the Duke, who died last Friday at the age of 99-years-old.

In Boton flags on council building will remain at half-mast until the morning after the funeral, an online book of condolence is available at royal.uk.

Due to the pandemic, people are asked not to lay flowers in public but to instead consider a donation to The National Emergencies Trust

Last Saturday, the Mayor of Bolton Cllr Linda Thomas laid a memorial wreath on behalf of the borough, adding “I know that my sadness will be shared across Bolton”

At 3pm on the day of the funeral on Saturday there will be a national one-minute silence.

In line with National Protocol, there will be no public observation of the silence and no public service on Victoria Square in Bolton.

On the night of Prince Philip's death Bolton Town Hall was lit up purple in remembrance.
