TWO lanes of the M60 have been reopened after being closed following a crash involving a lorry and a car.

The collision happened on the motorway clockwise from junction 16 for Pendlebury to junction 17 for Prestwich and Whitefield at around 3.30pm.

Lanes one and two of four were sealed off in the affected area as emergency crews work at the scene.

But both lanes were reopened by 4.45pm.

Traffic is still backing up on the M60 to junction 14 for the East Lancashire Road.

Travel time is around 10 minutes.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman added: "Officers were called around 3.35pm today to a report of a road traffic collision on the M60 between junction 16 and 17."
