OFFICERS arrested a driver in Bolton last night after he was spotted "paying particular attention to their police vehicle".
When officers from Greater Manchester Police's transport unit stopped the driver, it turned out he was wanted for failing to appear in court.
He had been due to appear at Wigan Magistrates for an assault.
He was subsequently arrested and will appear in court later today.
The incident was reported on Greater Manchester Police's Traffic Twitter account.
The post read: "Last night #TransportUnit officers in Bolton spotted a driver who was paying particular attention to their police vehicle.
"Turns out he was wanted for failing to appear at Wigan Magistrates for a s.47 Assault.
"Arrested & kept in to appear at court today."
