A DRIVER who failed to stop after colliding with a schoolboy in Farnworth has been ordered to do unpaid work.

The 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the collision on King Street, Farnworth, at 8.30pm on September 6 last year.

At Wigan Magistrates’ Court, Robert Price, who was behind the wheel of a BMW 330D, admitted careless driving and failing to stop after an accident in which someone was injured.

Price, aged 27, of Heneage Road, Grimsby, was given a community sentence which includes 120 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
