No new deaths have been reported at the Royal Bolton Hospital for nearly three weeks as the number of residents vaccinated hit another milestone.

The last death from coronavirus to have occurred at the hospital was on April 4, with only two people dying in hospitals across the north west region in figures released by NHS England yesterday.

Overall, 646 people have died from coronavirus at Bolton Hospital, with the first death occurring on March 20 last year.

Three in five — 60 per cent — of residents across the borough have now received a coronavirus vaccination.

NHS data shows 133,431 people had received a vaccine jab by April 18 – 59per cent of those aged 16 and over.

This included 95 per cent of over 50s.
