POLICE are urging residents to be extra vigilant after a spate of burglaries in Edgworth.

Over the last two weeks, there have been three burglaries and a number of thefts in the Edgworth and Chapeltown area.

All have occurred during the day, when thieves have stolen a number of expensive items, including LCD televisions, jewellery and electrical goods.

Thieves have also stolen stone from properties.

Chris Williams, police community support officer, said: "I urge residents in Edgworth to be extra vigilant and take extra precautions to secure their homes this festive period."
