FOR decades it played an essential part in the lives of the good folk of Bolton.
Moor Lane bus station was the town’s main transport hub from the 1930s until it was finally closed in 2017.
It was from Moor Lane that the annual Wakes Weeks exodus would take place as families headed to the coast for their summer break.
It was here too where friends would arrange to meet before a night out and from where they would catch the last bus home.
The large steel canopies which were a later addition to the bus station were regarded as being revolutionary at the time.
But a new £48 million interchange saw the end of Moor Lane with the last bus departing for Bury.
