A CYCLIST was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Atherton on Friday evening.
His injures are not believed to be life threatening but the car failed to stop at the scene.
Police were called shortly before 6.50pm to Market Street to reports of a road traffic collision.
It was established that a vehicle and a cyclist were involved in a collision and the cyclist was taken to hospital.
Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called just before 6.50pm on Friday April 30 to Market Street, Atherton, to a report of a road traffic collision.
"Emergency services attended and enquiries established a vehicle and a cyclist had been involved in a collision.
"The cyclist - a man - was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
"The car failed to stop at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
A section of Tyldesley Road from High Street to Hamilton was closed for several hours and air ambulance were reported at the scene.
